Ïã¸ÛÂí¾­ÂÛ̳

Excitement filled the air on March 18. École Van Belleghem had the honour of hosting a Canadian Citizenship Ceremony, coinciding with International Francophonie Day. This auspicious occasion welcomed 57 candidates from 14 countries into the Canadian family, marking a significant milestone in their lives. The ceremony celebrated diversity, unity, and the shared values that bind us as Canadians. 

Grade 7 and 8 students took on the role of ambassadors, embodying Canadian hospitality. Leading the presiding official and the platform party into the ceremony room was Cadet Owen Pedrick, a Grade 8 student. 

Under the direction of Mme Danielle Laurendeau Cormier, the intermediate choir, comprised of Grade 4, 5, and 6 students, led the national anthem. 

Trustee Ryan Palmquist shared a congratulatory message, underscoring the significance of this momentous event and extending heartfelt wishes to the new citizens on behalf of the Ïã¸ÛÂí¾­ÂÛ̳. 

While some classes had the privilege of attending the ceremony in person, others joined virtually, thanks to Ken Plaetinck from the Louis Riel Arts and Technology Centre. This ensured that every student had the opportunity to witness and partake in this historic occasion. 

École Van Belleghem is immensely proud to have played a role in facilitating this ceremony, which commemorated the journey of the new citizens and reaffirmed our commitment to fostering a welcoming and inclusive community.
